Spokane Chapter IAAP
International Association of Administrative Professionals
Welcome to the Lilac City's IAAP Chapter!
We are proud to be a leader in developing Administrative Professionals' careers in Eastern Washington.
History
Our chapter was established in September of 1946 in Spokane, Washington. Our Association was first recognized under the name of National Secretaries Association (NSA). As boundaries melted away and the global business world emerged it became known as Professional Secretaries International (PSI) in the 1980s. Continued growth and change in the profession in the 1990s made it necessary to encompass all fields of office and administrative professionals worldwide. The Association's name then evolved into International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) which better reflects the true nature of today's office professionals.
Chapter Mission
To preserve the changing identity of office professionals by providing professional development through education and networking.
Chapter Values
We value Commitment, Dedication, Growth, Harmony, and Respect.

Guests: LaRayne Conley, Pat Plaster and Adele HowellCall to Order / Approval of Agenda / Approval of Minutes: The meeting was called to order by President Pamela Keller at 6:05 p.m. on September 23, 2009.
New Business: Patricia Ann Cocker-Fox brought the 2009-2010 Entertainment books for us to start selling as a fund raiser for the Chapter. They are to sell at a price of $30.00 each. We have eighteen to sell and can order more.
The speakers for the September 23, 2009 regular meeting were Pat Plaster and Adele Howell from U.S. Travel. They had a PowerPoint presentation on Managing Corporate Travel. An interesting fact is that travel is the third highest expense of a corporation. They also stated that the price of travel has been going up until recently and now hotels and car rentals are willing to negotiate prices in order to get our business. They also spoke about developing a strategy to meet corporate objectives, travel policy development, vendor programs, program consolidations, online booking and reporting. At the end of the presentation they gave us a thumb drive with the presentation on it to be able to share and take back to the people in charge at our corporations or businesses.
The Coeur d'Alene Chapter has closed and the members are now at-large. If you know any of them please invite them to our meeting.
There are several committee positions open. If any members are interested in helping on these committees please contact President Pamela Keller.
The chapter is looking for ideas for the Door Prizes. If you have a better way or different way in which we could do the door prize, please contact Pamela Keller with your ideas. Tickets were sold for $1 each, with the proceeds to benefit Spokane Chapter of IAAP. TeriAnne won donated items related to the theme of our chapter birthday.
We will meet again on October 28, 2009 at the Timber Creek Grill Buffet at 5:30 pm.
The speakers will be Ann Allen, Nicole Tedrow, and Angela Hayes from Associated Industries. They will speak on Unlawful Harassment.
